Repairs
Another unique attribute of our rugs (or hand braided rugs) is that they can be repaired! We offer an in-house service where we can typically repair many types of damage that may have affected your treasured rug. We can’t eliminate odors or remove stains, but if your puppy chews a hole in one, or the rug was stored for the winter and a mouse got to it, or if it’s just been in your family forever and sections are starting to wear or come apart– we can usually fix them and extend the life of the rug.
We’ve heard many “rug” stories when taking in repairs—everything from puppy chews to plant pot leaving a hole in the rug. Many times these rugs are very sentimental as handmade braided rugs are a labor of love. They are beautiful heirlooms that will last for decades, which is why we have many come through our shop to be repaired. This way another family member can take the memories and bring the warmth, durability and beauty into their own home.
Our braided rugs (and most handmade rugs) are also flexible in terms of sizing If you have grandma’s rug and it’s too big we can, in most cases, help make it a size that will work for the area you have in your home. If it’s a rug we made, we can sometimes add onto it to increase the size.
Please email us with pictures of what needs repairing and we can typically tell if it is something we can help with. Unfortunately, we cannot repair machine-stitched rugs.
Consignment
Don’t throw away those old braided rugs! We have found over the years that there is a demand for high-quality handmade used braided rugs. So we now carry a large selection of used braided rugs in our showroom. We sell all sizes, shapes and colors – from small scatter rugs to 9’ x 12’ (or sometimes even bigger) and everything in-between! Some of these rugs are on consignment from previous customers because they are downsizing or changing decor or we are selling for family members whose relative made them.
Requirements
The rugs must be made by us or handmade in good condition, clean, free from odors, stains & any insect damage (if there are holes/tears sometimes we can repair those prior to selling). We would need to see the rug in person to be able to estimate what we would price the rug to sell at. The condition, style, color and size of the braided rug are all taken into account when estimating the pricing. We take a 50% commission (minus any repair cost) once the rug has sold.
Please email or call us if you think you might have a rug you want to sell!
